Dip Dye
So here’s the thing, I know it’s a growing trend but not everyone can pull it off. Mainly cause people who don’t understand it will be puzzled. Personally, I don’t hear them through all the fuck I don’t give but for the faint of hearts we have the Ombre hair.
Ombre hair is the graded color of your hair from dark to light. see grading click here This was actually my original plan but I thought it would be more fun with a pink to it.
Here are some Photos of graded hair:
So let’s see the pros & cons of dip dying.
Pros:
- It looks absolutely awesome. Heh.
- If you’re as indecisive as me, you can chop it off or dye it back black if you don’t like it anymore.
Cons:
- You’d look absolutely stupid to other people. (Given)
- Damages ends/hair
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU’RE NOT 100% SURE YOU WANT IT.
but dude, it’s hair. Whatever the fuck happens, it’ll grow back. Have a little fun with your life.
Okay, so here’s some of the pegs I worked with.

Awesome pants to have it mint green eh?
Anyway I have asian black virgin hair.
It’s really hard to get color to stick on my hair so I needed to bleach it twice then dye it.
Materials:
- Mixing bowl & brush
- You can substitute the bowl with any other bowl preferrably plastic or ceramic. Not metallic. Metals have a weird reaction to the chemicals in bleach. I suggest you invest in the 18Php brush. You’ll really need it. - Disposable gloves
- Bleach is a powerful chemical and cause skin irritation so don’t let it get anywhere near your eyes/skin so use protection. Heh. - Foil

- Any aluminum foil will do. Cut it into h=4in w=3in strips - Hair bleach
- I got this at Hortaleza/HBC It was 90Php It comes in sachet now a days. One sachet will do. - Oxidizing Lotion

- For better comprehension. oxidation is the loss of electrons and reduction is the gain of electons. When something is oxydized, the oxidation number will increase and when something is reduced the oxidation number will decrease. Breaks down the atomic composition of keratin (hair)
In other words, It helps the color dye to stick to the hair. Kay?
In HBC there are alot of percentages available. 4% 9% 12% The larger the percentage the stronger it will be. So I got the 12% (Ask the sales lady for more info depending on your hair type)
- Damage repair cream/hot oil cream/ plain conditioner

- I used Cream Silk Precision Repair treatment cause I just think it’s the best damage repair cream affordable out there.
Hair dye color of your choice
- I got Color Fiend at Hot topic in California. This one’s temporary. So if you’d want one, ask someone to get it for you. But Hortaleza has alot of hues/shades to choose from and very inexpensive!
Step-by-step:
The Bleaching Process
- Prep your hair clean and dry.
- Mix together the Bleach and oxidizing lotion into a bowl 1:1 portion (or just till it has a good consistency, not too hard not to fluid)
- Section your hair as if you’re going to iron/curl it. Bottom section first. Partition to half and work your way.
- We’re gonna do some foiling! (I know it sounds complicated but it really isn’t) The idea is just to cover the sections so that when we heat it, it’ll capture as much heat as possible (the more radiant the color) Foil is an excellent conductor of heat. You can substitute it with plastic or cling wrap.
Here are excellent instructions with foiling!
- Heat the foils using a blower for 10 seconds each.
- Leave it for 15 mins.
- Open just to see how it’s going. Compare to each other and if you haven’t achieved the shade you’d like, leave it again for another 10 minutes.
- Take off foils and rinse your hair and apply conditioner.
Here’s what I got for the first stage of bleaching.
It wasn’t that light as it should be so I coated it again and it went into a slight blonde. I did not like it! I wanted the yellow-ish out. To do that you’ll need a toner (which you cannot find in manila or atleast, I ddnt) So, time to dye!
THE DYING PROCESS:
- Prep your hair clean and dry.
- Mix together the Bleach and oxidizing lotion into a bowl 1:1 portion (or just till it has a good consistency, not too hard not to fluid)
- Section your hair as if you’re going to iron/curl it. Bottom section first. Partition to half and work your way.
- FOIL.
- Apply heat.
- Keep for 30 minutes
- Rinse.
- Voila!

NOTE: PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. Stated here are just based from personal experience. Take extra precaution. Do not let any chemicals near your eyes. If so, wash rapidly with running water and consult your doctors.
Otherwise, have fun kids!
